Happy Holiday Season

HI,
I hope everyone had a nice holiday...Ours was very good.  Bob and I lounged around Christmas Eve and ate.  Of course we ate too much junk, but hey, what is the holiday for, huh!!!  Anyway, Christmas day Terry came up and we had brunch then we opened gifts.

After we got done with presents, Bob and Terry started watching football while I started dinner.  Bob did put the turkey on the grill to smoke.  It took about 5 hours and "wow" was it good.  Bobby and Benita with Robert too, got here around 4pm and we had a really nice dinner.  It was great to have them with us.  The food was very good if I say so myself.  Dessert was pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread..Do you see a theme here?

I took all my decorations down today.  I didn't put up that many this year so it didn't take me too long.  Us girls in my diet group decided we had all been way too bad over the holiday so we are giving ourselves a week off from weighing in.  Works for me!!!!!!  I wasn't at all looking forward to getting on the scales.

I headed back to the gym this morning to burn off some of the holiday calories.  It has been 4 days since I worked out so it was tough getting back into my routine.  Tomorrow should be better.

I want to wish everyone a very happy new year.  Take care and be careful if you are out on the roads.  There are a lot of crazy drivers out there.  See ya later!

It's December already....

Hi,

Does anyone know where this year has gone to??? It seems like we just finished ushering in 2009 and it's already about time to bring in 2010. I am so behind right now. I haven't put up any Christmas decorations yet. Matter of fact, my fall decorations are still up and I haven't even put a dent in my Christmas shopping. Usually by now I am pretty much done but so far I've only bought 2 gifts. Would someone out there like to do the shopping for me??? Maybe I will use the Internet this year and do most of my shopping from home. That sounds like a good idea to me.

Bob was in Colorado recently and while there he took some really beautiful pictures. Would you believe he didn't take me with him? My favorite state in the whole US and he doesn't take me! I'm just kidding....It wasn't practical for me to go since he was only going to be there overnight so to keep me happy he took a bunch of pictures.

All the pictures he took look like post cards. So beautiful....I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. We went to TN to visit with dad. We always go to mom's grave when were there so I decided to make my own bouquet of flowers. It won't win a prize but I have to say it turned out really good. Mom is the first one at the cemetery to have Winter/Christmas flowers.

While in TN we went down to Chattanooga and rode the Duck Boat. What a blast that was. We had the best tour guide. We rode the vehicle on a tour through downtown Chattanooga then he took us to the river front and drove down a boat ramp right into the water and like magic it turned into a boat. We did get a little spray when it hit the water but it wasn't too bad. He gave us a great tour of Chattanooga from the water then when we were done he took the boat to the ramp and just drove it straight out of the water and like magic we were a vehicle again. I recommend it if you've never done it before..So much fun!!! Below is a picture of us right before we took off.

We all know how pretty the mountains are in TN. Below is a picture I took.

We were honored with a invitation from Johnny and Chris to come to their house for Thanksgiving dinner. It has been many years since we've celebrated a holiday with them so this was really special. Here are some pictures of our visit.

Looks like the Triptifan is kicking in and Mike is ready for his after turkey dinner nap.

Bob's parents were there also. Here's is Johnny, Judy, Bob, dad and John chatting after we ate.

Look at that smile!!!! What a cutie Joseph is. He loves having his picture taken.

What a great looking family. Chris, thank you for letting me take your picture.

So sweet!!! Johnny & Maria look great.

I also have some exciting news I wanted to share. As most of you know I have been dieting and at my weigh in last night I arrived at a wonderful number. I have lost..Are you ready????? 50 pounds!!!!!!!!!!! To be exact I have lost 50.2 pounds. Surprising, I lost weight over the holiday. Not sure how that happened but I'm not complaining. Right now I have around 35-40 pounds left to go. Maybe by summer I will arrive at my goal.

I know this is a very busy month for everyone but I hope we all take the time to be thankful for what we have and for our health. Enjoy your time with your family and try to make every moment count. Don't get caught up in the commercialism of this holiday and remember that it's not the gifts your receive that count it's the time you spend and the lasting memories you make with loved ones and friends that matter.

Take care.
Love you all,
Teresa

Happy Thanksgiving...

HI,
I wanted to wish everyone "A Very Happy Thanksgiving" What is every one's plans????

We are leaving in the morning and going to Tennessee to visit dad. Bob's parents will be arriving on Thursday. We plan on going to Johnny & Chris's for Thanksgiving dinner. It's been years since we've spent a holiday with Johnny and Chris so I am really looking forward to it.

If your traveling for the holidays, please be careful driving. Hope your Turkey day is a good one!

Quick update....

The scales were good to me Monday night....I lost 1.2 pounds. That takes my total to 42.2 pounds lost so far. YEAH!!!!

Guess what I did yesterday????? At the gym we walk 3 to 4 miles a day. We decided to add something to our workout yesterday, we started jogging on the track. We walked a lap and jogged a quarter lap. After doing that for several laps we started jogging for a half lap. It felt great but it is a tough workout. We were sweating pretty good by the time we got done.

Will update more later. Have a nice day. Take care.

Weigh-in day.....

Hello,
How is everyone? It's Monday, so you all know what that means......It's weigh-in day! Not sure what the scales are going to say this time. Bob and I went to Cincinnati on Tuesday and visited with his parents. We had a great time at the Cincinnati Reds game but of course we ate items we should not have eaten. We stopped at Cracker Barrel on the way home on Wednesday for lunch and I did very well there. The only other day I ate things I should not have was yesterday. Myself and three other women from church had a baby shower for a fellow members daughter. I tried to do well but I did eat a piece of cake. I'm not a big fan of cake but everyone was talking about how good it was so of course I had to have some....Where is the self control when you need it!!!!!
Anyway, I will be sure to let you all know what the scales say this evening. Wish me luck!!!!! Take care.

Hello

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't updated my blog in a while. Time just got away with me. Where has the year gone? It's hard to believe September is already here. Before we know it we will be ringing in 2010....Unbelievable, huh!!

I'm still working hard on the weight loss and going to the gym. We are on a schedule now where we walk 3 to 4 miles a day, Monday through Thursday. In a week we walk 12 to 16 miles which really amazes me. If you would have told me by the end of summer I would be walking that much a day let alone a week I would have told you, you were crazy. Also, on Tuesday and Thursday's we go to the wellness room and we work on all the machines and also we do some exercises with free weights. I know it's a hard, long process to lose weight and to get healthier but since I am seeing results I'm not in a big hurry. It doesn't matter to me if it takes several more months or even a couple more years. I have found the correct diet plan and exercise for me. That I believe is the secret. You have to find the plan that works for you. Just because it works for someone else doesn't mean it's going to work for you. I will be sure to continue keeping everyone updated.

I just wanted to give a quick update. I will be sure to update again soon. Take care.

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone has had a nice week. Mine has been pretty busy with errands, working in my flowers and house work. Seems like there's always something to do.

We have wonderful neighbors and two of them have gardens. They share their items with everyone in the neighborhood. Everything they bring to us taste so good. YUM!!!! There's nothing any better than fresh produce.

Any plans for the weekend? We don't really have much going on. Terry came up last weekend and helped us cut down some tree limbs and straighten up a couple big bushes. He loved using the chainsaw. He worked it like a pro. We ended up completely filling the bed of our truck with all the debri. Never thought we would have that much but when we went to the compost to dump it we had a total of 220 pounds. That's a lot of branches.

That's about all the scoop on the happenings in Marion. Take care and have a nice weekend.

Our trip to TN

Hi,
Bob and I went to TN to visit dad this week. Bobby, Benita and Robert were there also. We had a good time visiting with everyone. While there we went to a couple great places. One was a house that looks like a spaceship. It is so cool. If you have $134,000 the house can be yours. Below are a couple pictures. You can also go on the Internet and do a virtual tour of the house. The first picture is a staircase that goes up into the house. It's the only way into the house.

We also went to the Jack Daniels Brewery in Lynchburg, TN. Their operation is amazing. Your not able to sample the liquor because it's a dry county but you get to go into the factory, which is huge, and see every aspect of how they make the product. The factory is very large and it takes about a hour to do the tour. The first picture is of the old office that Jack Daniels used to work from when he was living. The guy in the straw hat and bib overalls was our tour guide. He did a wonderful job!

In the picture above Robert is standing next to a bronze statue of Jack Daniels. In the background is a natural spring. The water from the spring is used to make Jack Daniels whiskey.

Before you go on the tour they have a building that has several displays that explain the process of making Jack Daniels. Bob is the one in the middle, blue shirt with tan shorts, checking out one of the displays.

Above is Bobby and Robert in front of another statue of Jack Daniels. Check out how much taller Robert is than Bobby!!! :)
Bob, Robert and I went fishing also. Well, I should say Robert and I went fishing. Bob took care of stringing our fishing poles, putting the crickets on the hooks, untangling our lines and whatever else we needed. I did catch a fish though. Dad called it a Brine. It wasn't real big but I was so proud...
We went to mom's grave which is something we do every time we go to TN. We got some really pretty flowers for her grave. It's amazing how nice they keep that cemetery. The workers do a good job.
Dad and I went walking one morning at a walking track in Dayton. They have walking trails that start on one side of highway 27 then you go under the highway to another large walking area. The scenery was really nice. You had a lot of trees and water to look at . Dad and I walked 3 miles at about 3.4 mph. I was so proud of us.
Also, I talked to Kathy today. As most of you know her whole family has had Swine Flu. Thankfully she said their all over it now. She said Martin had it the worse. For her and Dwayne the worst part was headache but Martin ran a real high temperature, vomiting and also the headache. Martin is fine now and he is back to playing soccer.
I have more pictures and will try to get them posted soon. Have a good weekend. Take care.

Goodbye, Michael

I know everyone is probably aware by now of the passing of Farrah Fawcett, Ed McMahon and Michael Jackson. The death of Farrah and Ed were not a surprise as we all know both of them have been battling cancer and other ailments. But the news of Michael Jackson's death is a huge shock.

I grew up with Michael Jackson. When I was a young teenager I had such a crush on him. He was a fabulous singer and dancer. Even though he was known to be a "little weird" and "strange" I always enjoyed watching him dance and listen to his songs. Whenever I hear one of his songs I always want to dance. His music has such a wonderful beat to it. He did have a rough childhood and it was hard not to feel sorry for him.

Even though charges were brought against him for sexual abuse of a minor I always hoped that he didn't do it. We know he was never convicted and he suffered a lot during that time. Michael was so young, only being 50 when he died. Of course, the story circulating now is that he died because of a drug overdose. We won't know if that is true for a few weeks but why do people let drugs take over their lives? Look at Elvis, Anna Nicole Smith, Keith Ledger, and many others...So sad!!!

Michael also leaves 3 children. What a challenge it will be for them to go on without their dad. Michael Jackson will still live on through his music. He will be missed by many.....

Terry's graduation BBQ

Hi,
How is everyone? Were doing fine. This past weekend we had a BBQ in Terry's honor to celebrate him graduating from college. We had a great time playing ladder golf and corn-hole. I had played ladder golf before but this was my first time playing corn-hole. It's definitely a lot harder than it looks. We grilled out baby-back ribs and chicken. The food was great and so was the weather. We couldn't ask for a prettier day, not too hot or too cold. Just right!!! Below are a few pictures that were taken. Have a good day.

Good Tuesday morning to ya'

Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a good week so far. We got a lot of rain yesterday which we really did need. My flowers seem to be a little happier. Bob and I have been spending quite a lot of time out working in the landscaping. There is always another weed to pull or flower to tend to. Everything is blooming so pretty. I just love all the color.

We were able to visit with Bobby and Benita this past Saturday afternoon. They were having a cookout for Benita's son, Josh who was celebrating a birthday and they invited us to join them. The changes they have made in the yard are nice. The Wisteria is beautiful. I'm glad I was able to see it this year in bloom. For some reason in the past I kept missing the blooming time. Bobby and Benita thanks again for the invitation.

I'm heading to the gym this morning. Janet and I are so proud of ourselves for how well we have continued our workout regime. We walk the track for 3-4 miles Monday thru Thursday. Then on Tuesday and Thursday we also do the machines in the wellness room. There are days I have to make myself go but when I am done I always feel better.

Well, I better head out. Take care and have a nice day.

What a beautiful day...

I don't know how the weathers been today where you live but it's been absolutely beautiful here in Ohio. We've had clear blue skies, and nice comfortable weather. My flowers are looking so pretty. I have taken pictures but I still need to re size them before I can post them. Hopefully, soon I will get that done.

Bob and I went on a long motorcycle ride a few days ago. We went up to Mohician State Park. From our house it takes about 1 1/2 hrs to get there. The park has a great covered bridge, walking trails along with a beautiful lookout. The 3 hour ride on the bike was a little rough on the back side but it still was a nice time.

Bob and I also went over to Wheeling, WV yesterday to check out Wheeling Island. It's a nice casino but I do like the one's in Tunica, MS better. We haven't been to a casino in several years so it was nice to play for a while. It's even nicer when you win......I WON $400.00.....The most I've ever won in the past is around $100.00 so I was really excited. It's great entertainment but you have to control yourself. I am too stingy with my money so I don't ever see myself getting addicted.

The weight loss group I started is doing well. We had our first meeting last Thursday. I had hoped for around 5 - 7 people and right now we have 6. I never realized how much work there is getting all the material together along with all the research you have to do. I have spent all afternoon today working on it. I try to make the time were together as interesting as possible. I'm excited about our first weight in tomorrow evening. I hope everyone does well.

It's time for me to start dinner. Take care and have a good week. Oh, I almost forgot. Joy had surgery today and everything went well. Were so thankful for that.

It's Friday...

Good morning,

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. Bob and I have been pretty busy. We went to Tennessee and visited dad for a few days. He is doing very well. It's always so nice to just sit on the swing on the front porch and take in all of the beauty of the lake. There wasn't many boats on the water but that should change by the end of this month. Bob went fishing down at the spillway at the dam and we also went to Johnny & Chris's for dinner one evening which was great. On the way back to Ohio we decided to see how far we could go without stopping and we drove from dad's to right above Kings Island outside of Cincinnati, OH. It took us 5 hours to get to that point. The only reason we stopped then was because the truck was out of gas. From there it takes us about 2 more hours to get home. If everything works out I hope to go back down to dad's within the next couple months.

Bob and I spent a couple days cleaning out our garage. What a mess that was! The garage has became a collect all and with that we only had about a 5 foot wide path to walk through it. We took a truck load of things to Goodwill and also had a lot of items we threw away but now it looks like a nice, clean, organized garage. How long it will stay that way, I don't know!!!

I would like to wish all mothers a "Happy Mother's Day" this coming weekend. Terry will be coming up to spend Sunday with us. It's always great to spend time with him. I don't get to see him as much as I would like to.

That's about all that is going on up here in Ohio. Have a nice day.

Good Monday Morning

Hello,

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. It was absolutely beautiful here on Saturday. Bob and I emptied the hot tub, cleaned it and refilled it. I'm really looking forward to spending some time enjoying the relaxing effects the water has. If you don't have a hot tub you may want to think about getting one. When Bob and I bought this house the hot tub was already here. We probably would not have bought a hot tub on our own but since the first time we got into it we have loved it. So, so relaxing.....

Terry is now a college graduate. He took his last final about a week ago and he made a "A" in the class. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from Franklin University. He made straight "A's and B's" all through school. He was on the Dean's list and the President's list several times. Bob and I are so proud.

I am heading to the gym this morning to do my daily walk and also work on some of the machines in the wellness room. We are up to 3 miles a day now. It is so amazing to me that I am walking around 12 miles a week. My foot still bothers me a lot but I just push through the pain and keep going. Thank goodness for Advil, it helps me a lot too.

Have a nice day.

It's Friday....

Hi guys,

Sorry, I've been out of touch but we've been pretty busy. The rain finally stopped so the roofers came last week and put on our new roof. We also had a company from Columbus come up and put in all new landscaping lights. What a huge difference that has made. The only thing left for us to do is to have another layer of mulch put down and we should be done. Once we complete everything I will post some pictures.

We were having problems getting on to the Internet yesterday so we had our cable company to check it out and he said the cable running from the pole to our house was installed back in the 80's so he changed it. So far everything is working fine.

I'm getting my hair cut today. Yeah!!!! It has gotten way too long. With summer coming it needs to be shorter. That's about all that is going on here in Marion. Take care and have a nice day.

Time to think.....

Thoughts to ponder.........

One of the things I keep learning is that the secret of being happy is doing things for other people.

The purpose of life is not to be happy – but to matter, to be productive, to be useful, to have it make some difference that you have lived at all.

The best way to find yourself, is to lose yourself in the service of others.

Happiness comes of the capacity to feel deeply, to enjoy simply, to think freely, to risk life, to be needed

You can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth.

That first peak is the best place to pause and look back, to see if you took the easiest route, to learn the lessons from the first climb. And it is the best place to examine the terrain ahead, to change your plans and goals, to take a deep breath and begin climbing again.

Spring cleaning....

It's that time of year again...The time we all dread....The time when all the dirt collected over the winter must be taken care of... Even though we all know it's coming, we still wish we didn't have to do it... It's "spring cleaning time!!"

So, with bucket, mop, broom, dust pan, rags, and cleaners all in hand I started working on my house this week. I'm far from done but I have to say that the rooms I have finished look brighter and cleaner.

Once everything is done then how long will the house look nice?...A day, maybe two! Then it's back to cleaning again but at least I won't have to do the deep spring cleaning again for another year...That's a comforting thought.

So, to all spring cleaners...Just remember, your not the only one out there who is spending time cleaning their house. Once we are done we can reap the rewards and have a clean, dust bunny free, nice smelling house even if it's only for a short period of time.

Take care.

Good to be home....

Hi,
I hope everyone is well. Just a reminder, be sure and wear green tomorrow. We don't want anyone to be pinched...I'm good about telling everyone else to wear green but I always forget. Not sure why that is, but I am prepared this year. I went out today and bought a green T-shirt and it's laying out in the open so I won't forget to wear it tomorrow. Pretty smart of me, huh!!!!

Bobby and I had a great time visiting dad. We drove down on Wednesday and then on Thursday we took the Incline up to the top of Lookout Mountain and toured the battlefield. Below are some pictures of Bobby and I and also a picture of the beautiful view from the top. It was so cold on top of the mountain. The whole time we were at dad's it didn't get above 45 degrees.

Thursday evening we went to Johnny & Chris's for dinner. Of course, the food was great. On Friday we worked on projects around the house then Friday evening we went out to dinner with Mike & Maria at the Olive Garden. Don't you just love the all you can eat Salad and Bread sticks?YUM!! We headed home on Saturday morning and unfortunately we started having problems with my SUV and we broke down about 10 miles south of Columbus. I called Bob and he came and picked us up and we had the SUV towed to Marion. I'm not sure yet what happened to the SUV but the garage is working on it now.
Bob was in Memphis, TN all last week and while he was there he went up to Blytheville to visit the plant where he used to work and he also went by the house we sold. Below are some pictures of what the house looks like now. The current owners have changed it a lot. There used to be a Pine tree on the left of the sidewalk and a huge Maple tree to the right of the sidewalk but the current owners had both trees removed. I think the yard looks really bare now and in the other picture where you see the flowers planted with the decorative stone around it, used to be a long line of Holly bushes. The bushes were huge and very pretty so I am surprised they took them all out. Other than that, Bob said the outside of the house looked the same.

I just got a e-mail from one of my classmates in high school that it's time for our 30-year class reunion. Where has all the time gone. I still can't believe I've been out of school for 30 years. WOW!!! I feel really old now...They are having the reunion 4th of July weekend. Their going to have a dinner on Friday and a picnic on Saturday. It's only $20.00 per person to attend both. Not a bad price, I guess.
Well, that's about all that is going on. Take care and have a nice day.

Monday, March 2, 2009

Hello everyone,

Boy, oh, boy, was it cold this morning...We had a wind chill of 6 below and also a dusting of snow on the driveway. But, as the week goes on it's supposed to warm up.

Time changes next weekend. So don't forget to "spring forward" your clocks. Pretty soon the temperatures will be a lot warmer and the flowers will wake up from their winter sleep and start budding out. I hope we don't have a late freeze again this year. I love when everything is in bloom. So pretty!!

I went to Bobby and Benita's Thursday evening for a jewelry party that Benita was hosting. Everything was so pretty and it was tough to decide on what I wanted to order. I ended up getting a necklace with a matching bracelet along with another bracelet. I thought it would be nice to get a couple pieces to match the outfits I wear to church.

Bob and I went to the Columbus Home and Garden show on Saturday. I just love looking at all the great ideas for the house and outside. We are going to put a new roof on our house so we were able to contact several roofers who are going to come up and give us an estimate. Were also wanting to change our landscaping lightening and we were able to make several contacts for that also. After the home show we went to the mall in Polaris then we met Terry for dinner. Terry is so close to finishing school. He has decided not to participate in the graduation ceremony which will take place in May. I've got to see Terry through two other graduations so him not participating in this one is fine with me. I know he would have done it if I would have asked him too but he really wasn't interested in the formal part.

I've decided to join a weight loss group that my church is starting. We have our first weigh in on Thursday. I am against scales but if I want to participate I have to weigh in. This will be the first time I've been on scales in a long time. I hope I'm not too shocked!!!!

That's about all that I can think of that is going on here. Take care and have a nice day.

Happy Birthday......

"Happy Birthday, Terry"
Today, my baby turns 29 years old....Where has the time gone! It seems like yesterday he was a little tyke running around playing with his trucks. Now he's a handsome, mature adult.
Terry, we love you so much and Bob & I are very proud of you. You have no idea how much brightness you bring to our lives. Enjoy your day!!! With much love, Bob and Mom

Hello

Hi,
I wanted to update everyone on my appointment with my new Podiatrist yesterday. They took X-rays and she said all my bones looked fine. She confirmed that I do have a Neuroma and the other doctor I was going to told me they didn't know what causes a Neuroma but my new doctor told me yesterday that a Neuroma is caused by wearing your shoes to tight or by wearing high heels. She said on your foot in between the bones is the nerves and they are in a very cramped space. If your shoes are too snug then the bones of your foot are pushed together which squeezes up against the nerve and irritates it and that causes it to become inflamed. Also, if you wear high heels a lot then the pressure on the ball of your foot can also cause the Neuroma.

I don't wear high heels and I didn't think my shoes were too tight but I went out today and bought a new pair and I paid close attention to how much room my feet have. She said to make sure I can freely wiggle my toes and I can. Anyway, I told her my other doctor had tried the inflammatory medication and also a Steroid shot and they didn't work so she had another treatment that we tried. She gave me a shot that has alcohol in it and some other drugs. She said that I am to get one shot a week up to 7 shots and over time the alcohol will numb the nerve which will stop the pain. She said she has had good success with this treatment so we will have to see if it works for me. I went to the gym this morning and Janet & I walked for 3 miles but partway through my foot starting hurting but I fought through the pain and walked all 3 miles. I just hope in the next few weeks I will be able to tell a difference.

I finally have my house all back in order. It was nice to put all the furniture back where it goes and also to get the house cleaned up. It's amazing the difference in this house. All of the white trim and doors looks so good.

That's about all that is happening up here. Valentines Day is coming up. I hope everyone has a nice day with their sweetie. Take care.

Congratulations to the Steelers for winning the Superbowl. I missed some of the game because I didn't get home from church until 7:30. I enjoy watching football but when it comes to the Superbowl I enjoy watching the commercials more than the game. I think it's the only time through the year that I actually watch a commercial. There were some really funny ones but my favorite is always the Budweiser horses. Their so beautiful.

The guys are still here painting. Because of the bad weather we had last week there was a couple days they weren't able to work. So far, all the baseboards, door frames and 6-panel doors are all painted. Now they have to change out all the knobs, hinges and bolt locks. There's some touch up painting to be done and a few little things but they hope to be finished on Wednesday. I can't wait to get my house put back in order. Having all the furniture pushed to the middle of the rooms is driving me crazy. But, it's amazing how much different the house looks now with all the trim painted white. It's so pretty.

We were able to visit with Bobby and Benita on Saturday. We went out to dinner together then we went to the Blue Jackets Hockey game. It's always fun to get together with Bobby & Benita. Terry came up to Marion for a visit on Sunday. With Bob and I being sick so much the last few weeks it's been a while since we've seen him. He is doing fine. He is staying really busy with school and work.

I started back at the gym this week. A friend and I have been walking together. We try to walk 2 miles on the walking track then I've been walking on my treadmill at home everyday. My foot has been bothering me some so I guess it's time for me to find another doctor. The doctor I am seeing now wants to remove the nerve in my foot. I think I would like to get another doctors opinion. To me it just doesn't sound right to have a nerve removed.

That's about all that is going on up here. Have a nice week. Take care.

Just a quick note.....

Hi,
Just a note to let everyone know that I am feeling better. I'm still congested and coughing but I did wake up this morning with a little more energy. Give me a few days and I should be back to normal. Whatever that is!!! Anyway, have a nice week. Take care.

The Snow is melting.....

Today we seen something we haven't seen in a while. The sun decided to make an appearance and with it came warmer temperatures. It got up to about 43 degrees. Some of our snow has melted but we still have about 4 inches on the ground. But starting tomorrow the colder temperatures will be back.

Well, guess what? I am sick again! Last week Bob was sick with a sore throat and a chest cold and I was hoping I wouldn't get it but I guess this isn't my time for luck because I woke up at 2:00 Wednesday morning with a sore throat and a stopped up head. The sore throat is gone now but I am so congested. This is so crazy that I have already been sick 3 times this year and were only in the first month of the year. Bob told me it's because I didn't eat cabbage and pork on New Years Day!! I know one thing, next year on New Years Day I am definitely eating cabbage and pork. LOL!!

My house right now is a total shambles. The furniture in every room is pushed up to the middle of the floor. They have finished painting the master bedroom and now they have moved out to the other rooms. Almost all of the primer is on and from there they will put on the two top coats then start on the doors. It's amazing how different the rooms look already. I'm excited to see everything when it's done.

My head is starting to hurt so I need to go take my medication. Have a nice day.

Good Morning, All.....

Hi,
We woke up to more snow this morning. We have a total of about 4 inches now. It's a good snow for making snowmen. Our neighbors grand kids made a really cute one. It's such fun watching the kids have a good time playing in the snow.

Bob and I had a great time with Bobby and Benita Saturday evening. We went by their house and picked them up then we went to a great restaurant called the Refectory. The restaurant is in a old church building. It had the great high ceilings, dark woodwork and the tall 6-paneled doors. The main dining room is in the old auditorium part of the church and it had beautiful Cathedral ceilings. The best part was the windows. They were arched at the top with the most beautiful stained glass. The restaurant serves French cuisine and it was really good. Very fancy...

After we ate we went to the Columbus Blue Jackets Hockey Game. Bob and Bobby both love to watch Hockey. The game was a lot of fun and also the Blue Jackets won!!!! Yeah...Go Jackets...

It felt great to be able to go back to church yesterday. Thankfully, me being there last Sunday I didn't make anyone sick. Whew!!! I was worried about that. I've been out running around all morning taking care of a few errands and I also went to the Y. It felt good to be able to walk for a while. I have really missed that too.

That's about all that is going on up here in Marion. Hope everyone has a nice day. Take care.

FEELING SO MUCH BETTER!!!!!!

It feels great to feel better.....I got up this morning feeling pretty good so I decided to work on the house. I was able to get quite a lot done. It definitely looks a lot better.

It's been snowing up here the last couple days. In all we've only gotten about 2 inches but there's been a lot of ice on the roads. There's a Arctic cold front coming down from Canada that is supposed to be here in a couple days. It's going to be really cold then. I hope there's more snow coming also....I know I'm crazy! I just love it. So pretty!!

We had to buy a new monitor for our computer. This one is a little smaller but it's nice. Our other one just died without any signs that it was about to happen. Not sure what caused it to crash but the computer person who looked at it told us that's the way it usually happens. Oh, well.

Our hot tub finally got fixed last week. We called "Spa Doctors" and the person that came and put in the new spa pack was great. He was so knowledgeable about our type of spa and he was able to give us several great pointers. It's great to have someone now that we know we can call and even though he's in Columbus he said he has no problems coming up to Marion. That's so awesome!!!

Terry started his last class at college Tuesday evening. This class is called a "capstone." The class integrates, over a 15 week period, everything he has learned the last two years he's been at Franklin University. I talked to him yesterday and he said that the class was going to be a tough one. I have all faith in him that he will do well. For the two years he's been at Franklin he has only made one "C." That was in his first semester. Since then in all his classes he has made either A's or B's. He's been on the Dean's List and the President's List. We are very, very proud of him.

Time for me to start dinner. Have a nice evening. Take care.

Just a quick update...

As some of you know I have been sick since Sunday... Thankfully, I am starting to feel a little better today. In a few days I should be over this, I hope anyway.

I think this is a good example of why the "Family Times" site that Melanie set up is a good idea. If anything goes on with anyone in the family it can be posted there and all family members are kept up to date on what's going on with each other. If you haven't had a chance to check it out or to sign up please do so today. Here is the website: http://forum2.aimoo.com/FamilyTimes/

Take care and have a good day.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR"

"Happy New Year to all".......It's now 2009 and my wish to you is that 2009 will bring you happiness, good health and whatever new years resolutions you make you are able to fulfill them this year....

How did you spend your New Years eve? Last year Marion started having a ball drop in our downtown so Bob and I went to it and it was really nice so we decided to go again this year. Most of the stores in the downtown area stay open until midnight and they have different organizations that set up stands and sell sandwiches, hot chocolate, etc. Our local fire department brings in their bucket truck and some lucky citizen gets to be in the bucket truck along with a fireman and they raise the "ball" way up in the air and at one minute before midnight they slowly lower the ball and when it lands on the street then it's midnight. The ball lights up and everyone cheers. Last year the turnout was pretty low but this year there was a lot of people there.

Bob and I knew it was going to be around 20 degrees at midnight so we really bundled up. You should have seen me. I looked like that little boy in the Christmas Story. I had on 2 pair of pants, 2 shirts, 2 pair of socks along with fur lined boots. I had on one of Bob's hunting coats, ear muffs, a toboggan and a hood. I also had on 2 pairs of gloves. You would think I would have stayed warm but my hands still got a little cold. The wind had been blowing pretty hard earlier in the day but thankfully the winds were calm at midnight. I know you probably think we are crazy for standing out in the cold watching a ball drop from the sky but I have to admit it is fun.
Today is a big football day for Bob. I believe the first game starts around noon and there will be games up until late tonight. I plan on having a lazy day. I want to read, watch a couple movies I have taped and take a couple naps. Sounds like a great day to me. We are also going to grill out this afternoon. Were having steaks...YUM!!!
I got a email from a friend that had some old wives tales I've never heard of for New Years. Like your not supposed to sweep your floors on New Years Day because you will sweep someone out of the family. The first one across your threshold on New Years Day cannot have red hair. Someone with red hair is supposed to bring anger into your home for the year. If you wash clothes on New Years Day then you will wash all your luck away. I don't really believe in these wives tales but I do remember mom used to always fix cooked cabbage on New Years and she would put a dime in the bowl and whomever got the dime was supposed to have good luck. We went to Kroger's yesterday and the meat department had a lot of pork out on display so I guess a lot of people eat pork on New Years Day. It's so funny what some people believe....
To everyone I wish a happy 2009. I hope the year offers to you everything you hope for. Take care.
